‘Business for a Better World’: A panel discussion with Wisconsin B Corps

Carthage’s Business and Professional Coalition presents “Business for a Better World,” a discussion panel featuring Wisconsin mission-driven corporations, Thursday, Feb. 29, in the Todd Wehr Center Jockey Rooms. Doors open at 11:30; the program begins at noon. Attendance is free, but registration is required.

Panelists
The owner-founders of three mission-driven corporations believe they can make a difference while also making a profit. Panelists include:
Kimberly Kane, President and CEO of Kane Communications Group — a purpose-driven, branding, marketing, and public relations firm.
Russ Klisch, President and co-founder of Lakefront Brewery in Riverwest, Milwaukee — makers of the first certified gluten-free and organic beers in the US and committed to the highest levels of sustainability and community reinvestment.
Kurt Brenkus, CEO and co-founder of Indigenous Pact — a healthcare consulting firm that creates health equity for American Indians and Alaska Natives. He is also a Health Innovations Fellow with the Aspen Institute.
These three leaders have committed their companies to extraordinary levels of social and environmental performance, transparency, and responsible governance in order to achieve status as a benefit corporation and be certified by the nonprofit B Lab. Join us in learning why and how this process has changed their businesses (and their communities) for the better.
The panel will be moderated by Colleen Palmer, assistant professor of communication and digital media — an expert in public relations, mass communication, and crisis communication.
About the Business and Professional Coalition
For nearly 30 years, the Business and Professional Coalition (BPC), a network of regional civic, business, and professional leaders, have met regularly at Carthage to engage in substantive discussion around topics of regional and national import, and conversations that aim to further the region’s economic growth and prosperity. Through programming that includes prominent guest speakers and panel events, the BPC promotes learning, conversation, and relationship building to strengthen our local business community.
